How to Register to Vote in North Texas:

General Information:
The State of Texas makes it rather difficult to register to vote as while you can download a voter registration application online, you must complete, sign and mail in a physical form to your county’s election office at least 30 days prior to an election.  Also, you must include either (we recommend BOTH) your driver’s license number and/or the last four digits of your Social Security number.  Likewise, if you move, you must file a new application at least 30 days before an election or you must vote based on your old address.

Tarrant County:
817-831-8683
To download a voter registration application from the Tarrant County Elections Office go to https://www.tarrantcountytx.gov/en/elections/register-to-vote.html and follow the instructions.
Mail your completed form to Tarrant County, Registrar of Voters, PO Box 961011, Fort Worth TX  76161-9925.

Dallas County:
469-627-8683
For Dallas County, go to
https://www.dallascountyvotes.org/voters/registration/ and follow the instructions.
Mail your completed form to Dallas County, Registrar of Voters, 1520 Round Table Dr., Dallas, TX  75247-9903.

Denton County:
940-349-3200
For Denton County, go to
https://www.votedenton.gov/voter-information/voter-registration/  and follow the instructions.
Mail your completed form to Denton County, Registrar of Voters, PO Box 1720, Denton, TX  76202-9904.

Vote by Mail (VBM):

Again, Texas makes it very limiting to VBM.  Basic rules are that you must be either 65+, disabled, out of county for all early voting and election day dates or in jail.  If you qualify, you must get a VBM application, complete it and submit it to your county elections office at least a week before election day.  We recommend that you put BOTH your driver’s license number and last four of your Social Security number on BOTH the application and then on the ballot once you receive it.  Either go to your county’s election office website or call them to obtain the application.  A VBM application must be completed every year, even for those 65+ or permanently disabled if you want to continue to VBM.

Early Voting & Election Day Voting

In Tarrant and Dallas counties, you can vote at any open polling place within YOUR county for early voting and election day voting. This is not true in some other counties which require you to vote at specific polling locations.

In Denton County you can vote at any open polling place for Early Voting only, but on Election Day you must vote at your assigned precinct polling place.
